During travels to South America, and in particular to the mountain ranges of Guatemala, Ashley Sinclair Marshall discovered a small jewellery workshop of skilled Mayan craftsmen. Blown away by the ancient creative techniques and pioneering beadwork Ashley began an alliance with the workshop and there the first azuni collection was born.
The first Azuni costume collection was launched in Paris at Pret-a-Porter in 1995 and the tribal design and contemporary edge was soon picked up by top designers including Paul Smith.
The spring of 2000 saw the launch of Azuni's first silver collection. Ashley combined handmade pure silver beads and chunky silver charms stamped with floral and animal prints on leather cord, continuing to take inspiration from ancient craftmanship and traditional techniques.
Azuni's current collections are a fusion of semi-precious stone, pure silver, beadwork, swarovski crystal, carved shell and mother of pearl.
